Non-destructive Metal Thickness Testing
Williams Tank Lines - Stockton, CA
Metal thickness testing and evaluation was performed on May 5, 2015, as per Steel
Tank Institutes guidelines and the requirements of the SPCC Plan Section
112.8(c)(6).
§ 212.8 spilt prevention, Cantroi, and countermeasure Plan requirements for
onshore facilities (excludinr3 production facilities).
(c) Bulk storage containers.
(6) Test each aboveground container for integrity on a regular schedule, and whenever
you make material repairs. The frequency of and type of testing must take into account
container size and design (such as floating roof, skid mounted, elevated, or partially
buried). You must combine visual inspection with another testing technique such as
hydrostatic testing, radiographic testing, ultrasonic testing, acoustic emissions testing,
or another system of nondestructive shell testing. You must keep comparison records
and you must also inspect the container's supports and foundations. In addition, you
must frequently inspect the outside of the container for signs of deterioration,
discharges, or accumulation of oil inside diked areas. Records of inspections and tests
kept under usual and customary business practices will suffice for purposes of this
Paragraph.
Metal thickness testing was performed utilizing a certified Danatronics EHC-09DL- ',...
CW Digital Ultrasonic thickness gauge. Calibration of the testing unit was performed
on May 5, 2015, prior to conducting certified non-destructive metal thickness testing.
Testing consisted of A point measurements per square foot. The Certified UL 142
aboveground steel#2 Diesel fuel storage tank was evaluated from the lower portion
of the tank to at or above the midline. All report readings are the average thickness
readings per square foot and an average for the entire side was reported. No
defects were observed and the oil product tanks are reported to be In compliance
with CFR 112.8(c)(6) requirements. Williams Tank Lines Certified UL 142
aboveground steel #2 Diesel fuel storage tank passed their non-destructive metal
thickness test evaluation.
Testing frequency is recommended to be on a five year basis.
Gary Reeves,
Certified Steel Tank Institute Level 1 `
& Level 2 Tank and System Inspector.
SP001 Level 11 #11111
NDT UT Level 111 #001
