Do not allow spill to reach the storm drains, utilize the following steps: <br /> a. The source of the spill will be immediately addressed to avoid further spill <br /> b. The spill will then be contained to eliminate any more liquid leaving the sewer drain <br /> system, unless the spill is traveling to the storm drains. <br /> c. Secure the storm drain with a barrier device, such as, absorbent poured to create a <br /> dam, spill absorbent rolls, or rubber spill dams located in the spill kit near the chemical <br /> storage area in the warehouse <br /> d. Contain the spill with any of the above barrier devices to avoid any more liquid leaving <br /> the sewer drain system <br /> e. Isolate the liquid that has left the site with barrier devices or dirt berms and utilize the <br /> following steps for clean up. <br /> 5. Notify Management if the solution has entered the storm drain system <br /> 6. Immediately notify the proper authorities listed in the Slug Discharge Control Plan Notificaiton <br /> Procedure posted on the office door <br /> 7. Utilize the spill kit materials to absorb material <br /> 8. Dispose of the used absorbent in the spill kit container drum lined with 2x contactors bags <br /> 9. Label the bag and notify management for proper disposal. DO NOT DISPOSE IN THE GARBAGE. <br /> 10. Use the water hose near the silo to dilute remaining spill <br /> 11. Utilize citric acid by slow addition to neutralize the wetted area to a pH of 6-8,test with pH <br /> paper to confirm <br /> 12. Soak up remaining spill with the spill kit <br /> 13.
