No
additional information on the extent of impacts or detected concentrations in soil or
groundwater were available.
Nelson Ready Mix, 2059 Naw Drive. This site is located approximately 3,500 feet west
(upgradient) of the former Safeway facility. This is an open UST case involving release
from a diesel UST The UST was removed and the facility is participating in the
UST Cleanup Fund for reimbursement of assessment and remediation costs. No
additional information on the extent of impacts or detected concentrations in soil or
groundwater was available.
Silgan Container Corporation, 1815 Naw Drive This site is located approximately
2,000 feet west (upgradient) of the former Safeway facility. This facility formerly had a
subsurface solvent vault Site assessment activities delineated chlorinated solvent impacts.
In addition, petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in one on-site monitoring well at a
concentration of 650 parts per billion The detection of petroleum hydrocarbons in
groundwater at a site that did not have fuel USTs suggests regional groundwater impacts
are present.
Stockton Scavenger, 1240 Naw Drive. This site is located immediately south
(crossgradient) of the former Safeway facility Thus facility formerly operated diesel fuel
USTs Site assessment activities defined the extent of soil impacts and the impacted soil
was reumednated. Groundwater impacts were reportedly at low concentrations and
restricted to the vicinity of the former USTs.
OHI Inc., 820 South Pershing This site is located upgradient (northwest) of the former
Safeway facility Soil impacts were detected after removal of a fuel UST in 1990.
In addition to the UST case facilities, numerous trucking companies, truck sales, and
equipment leasing facilities are located within 1/8 mile in both upgradient and
downgradient directions of the former Safeway facility. These additional facilities include
fueling and maintenance operations with the potential to impact soil and groundwater.
SITE CHARACTERIZATION
Extent of Soil and Groundwater Impacts
TPHD is the constituent of concern at the site. Low concentrations of BTEX, primarily
It total xylenes, were detected in site soils at concentrations of 0.002 to 18 mg/kg.
SAON\PJZ2794127941000ICS-99V umer8 Emcon
Rev 0,8/10/98
