i • •
Project No. 014-95262
Page No. 6
adjacent to the former boiler diesel supply pipeline, and from areas previously or
currently overlain with spoils from excavation of the former diesel tanks, will be
analyzed for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as diesel (TPH-D).
13. Drill cuttings will be stockpiled on and covered by visqueene within the fenced
area west of the main plant building. Drill cuttings will be segregated based upon
field observations. Rinsate generated during decontamination procedures will be
drummed and left on-site near the the wastewater treatment facility pending
analytical results. Following favorable analytical results the drum contents may
be metered into the normal process waste stream for biologic treatment.
14. Equipment used for the advancing of soil borings and the sampling of soils would
be decontaminated (steam-cleaned, TSP, lab-grade detergents, etc.) before
arriving on-site, between each boring and/or sampling, before leaving the site, or
' as necessary to minimize the chances of cross-contamination. The rinsates from
the cleaning would be contained and drummed. The water would be stored on-site
pending the results of the chemical analysis and proper disposal by the client with
' the assistance of Krazan & Associates, within 90 days following generation.
15. Up to nine Hydropunch'II sampling points will be placed at various locations at
the subject site to assess the distribution of constituents of concern in groundwater.
Please refer to the attached map for the proposed Hydropunch`II sampling points.
16. Prior to driving the Hydropunch'II probe with a cone penetration testing (CPT)
rig, the existing monitoring wells will be sounded to determine the current depth
to groundwater beneath the subject site area.
17. A groundwater sample will then be collected using the Hydropunch'II sampling
tool. When positioned below the groundwater surface and locked in place, the
sleeve is retracted exposing a section of PVC well screen. Groundwater enters the
well screen with no aeration. Once the well screen is filled, accumulated
groundwater will be collected using a Teflon bailer. The collected sample will
be transferred from the bailer to appropriate sample containers using a bottom
emptying device (Teflon check valve and nipple) minimizing loss of volatile
constituents. The samples collected will then be preserved in accordance with the
analytical protocol. Each sample container will be completely filled allowing no
headspace. Following transference, each sample container will be labeled, logged
on a Chain-of-custody form, and placed in an ice chest to be kept at V Celsius
during transport to the analytical laboratory. Please refer to Appendix A for
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for CPT and Hydropunch'II groundwater
sampling and also for copies of the CPT contractor's C-57 license and proof of
insurance.
18. All groundwater samples will be analyzed for the presence of the following
constituents: electrical conductivity, pH, chloride, phosphate and nitrate. In
addition, groundwater samples from the vicinity of the on-site wastewater
treatment facility will be analyzed for ammonia-N, BOD and oil and grease.
Seven Hydropunch'samples will also be analyzed for volatile organic compounds
(VOCs) by EPA Method 502.2.
KRAZAN& ASSOCIATES, INC.
' Offices Serving the Western United States
95262.We
