The NIOSH TWA for PCBs is 0.001 mg/m3. <br /> Ammonia <br /> Ammonia is considered a human poison. The routes of exposure are inhalation and ingestion. <br /> Acute effects of ammonia vapors include severe eye, skin and mucus membrane irritation. The PEL for <br /> ammonia is 35 ppm. <br /> Chloride <br /> Chloride salts can vary widely in their properties. As salts they do not present a significant hazard <br /> to human health. <br /> Various Minerals <br /> Mineral contact in soils does not present a significant hazard to human health. <br /> i <br /> 5.0 PERSONAL PROTECTIVE CLOTHING/EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS <br /> This section specifies personal protective clothing/equipment required for the various tasks to be <br /> performed during this investigation. Table 2 summarizes these requirements. <br /> 5.1 Drilling_Onerations <br /> • Respiratory Protection: All field personnel will be required to have available for <br /> use, a properly fit tested half-mask air purifying respirator with organic vapor <br /> cartridges and particulate pre-filters. These will be required to be worn based on <br /> the criteria listed in Section 4.0. <br /> • Protective Clothing: All field personnel who handle contaminated soils, liquid, <br /> or auger flights will wear semi-permeable (white) Tyvek® coveralls (or <br /> equivalent). Company issued safety helmets will be worn by all personnel during <br /> field work. <br /> ' Hand Protection: Butyl rubber or nitrile gloves will be worn by all personnel <br /> handling auger flights and contaminated soils.
