The station has an interesting ownership history. Uuntil sometime in 2002, the property was j
owned by Velaro Inc. and operated as a Beacon servicestation. Velaro had cleaned up gasoline
contamination in soil and groundwater beneath the surface at the site to standards acceptable to San
Joaquin County Health Department and the State of California. These agencies agreed that no
further action was necessary and closed their environmental case files.
In 2002, Tesoro Petroleum Marketing Inc., purchased the property from Velaro. Tesoro also
assumed responsibility for any undiscovered contamination that might turn up. In 2003, Tesoro sold
the property to USA Petroleum. However, Tesoro retained responsibility for contamination, if any,
resulting from Velaro or Tesoro activities prior to the sale to USA Petroleum. As a condition of the
sale, Tesoro agreed to conduct an investigation to document the environmental condition of the site,
even though it was believed that contamination had been cleaned up by Velaro in the past.
In the fall of last year, Delta was hired by Tesoro to document the condition of soil and groundwater
beneath the site. The Delta report would serve to establish the level of contamination, if any at the
A member of
Xinogeyr
h trn:uritmal hlha-1 {
fiJ'I
P
