Dembroff TEL. NO: 209-583-3374
BACKGROUND:
Ultramar purchased site from Conoco in July 1990. Several
ground-water monitoring wells had been installed by Conoco
(formerly Kayo Oil Company) at and near the site. At the time
of site purchase, all but one well (MW-20) was dry. A vapor
extraction system was operated at the site until the end of
December 1990. The thermos unit was then removed and
permitting for a catalytic unit was initiated.
In February 1991, three additional ground-water monitoring
wells (MW-34, MW-35, and MW-36) were installed along the
south, east, amd west boundarlies of the site in an effort to
evaluate both ground-water gradient and water quality. Soil
and ground-water analyses showed nondetectable to low TPHg and
benzene concentrations.
i
SUMMARY OF THISQUARTER'S ACTIVITIES:
EVAX Technologies tested the vapor extraction piping installed
previously by DuPont Environmental . A proposal for piping
repair and modification is in preparation. A permit
application for a catalytic incinerator was submitted to the
APCD for processing. This application has been with the APCD
for over 60 days.
As mentioned above, three borings/wells were installed and
sampled in February 1991. Additional ground-water samples
were collected in April 1991 to verify laboratory results and
initiate quarterly a ground-water monitoring program.
BEACi::-N
A Member of the Ultramar Group of Companies #1 Quality and Service
ullramar'
