The two conductor casings must be cutoff at 4.5 feet below grade and a
mushroom grout cap brought up to 3 feet below grade to conform to the San Joaquin County Well
Standards. I apologize for the oversight.
Nuel Henderson
From:Todd Hafner [mailto:todd.hafner@cardno.com]
Sent:Thursday, January 10, 2013 5:34 PM
To: Nuel Henderson [EH]
Cc: John Yoakum [EH]
Subject: Monitoring Well Destruction
Hi Nuel,
I am in the process of preparing a well destruction workplan at the request of Jim Barton for J&L Market
located at 8125 South EI Dorado Street in French Camp and would like your recommendation/approval with
regard to destruction methodology before it is submitted. Eighteen monitoring wells and two ozone sparge
wells associated with the site will be destroyed. The monitoring wells are installed to depths ranging from
approximately 36.5 to 140.6 feet, and the ozone sparge wells are each installed to a depth of approximately
35 feet. Seven monitoring wells are installed inside steel conductor casing. The conductor casing was
installed to depths ranging from approximately 57 to 96.5 feet.
In an effort to reduce costs, I am proposing to destroy wells JLM4,JLM12,JLM14,JLM15,JLM16,JLM17,
JLM18,JLM19,JLM20,JLM24,JLM25,and JLM26 by pressure grouting and destroying JLM3,JLMS,
JLM13,JLM21,JLM22, JLM23,and the two ozone sparge wells by overdrllling. The vast majority of
impacted soil was removed prior to the installation of all but three monitoring wells.Attached is a table of
groundwater quality data associated with the wells. Please let me know if my proposed approach is
acceptable. Mr. Barton would like to review the completed workplan next week. Let me know if you have any
questions.
Todd Hafner, P.G.
SENIOR GEOLOGIST
CARDNO ATC
cardno"
Arc
Shaping the l'umna
Phone(+1)209-579-2221 Fax(+1)209-579-2225 Mobile(+1)209-662-0899
Address 1117 Lone Palm Avenue, Suite B, Modesto, CA 95351
Email todd.hafner@cardno.com Web www.cardnoatc.00m-www.cardno.com
This email and its attachments may contain confidential and/or privileged information for the sole use of the intended recipient(s).
All electronically supplied data must be checked against an applicable hardcopy version which shall be the only document which
Cardno warrants accuracy. If you are not the intended recipient, any use, distribution or copying of the information contained in
this email and its attachments is strictly prohibited. If you have received this email in error, please email the sender by replying to
this message and immediately delete and destroy any copies of this email and any attachments. The views or opinions expressed
are the author's own and may not reflect the views or opinions of Cardno.
1/29/2013
