EL DORADO ST., FRENCH CAMP, <br /> SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CASE NO. 390897 <br /> 1 reviewed the Ozone Sparge Well Installation and Pilot Study Test Report (Report) received <br /> 2 June 2010 from your consultant ATC Associates, Inc. (ATC). The Report documents the <br /> October 2009 installation of two ozone sparge wells (OS1 and OS2) and the December 2009 <br /> pilot test conducted at your site. The pilot test lasted four weeks, and was deemed successful <br /> as petroleum hydrocarbons reductions (68% to 89%), increased dissolved oxygen and <br /> oxidation reduction potential, and minimal secondary effects (hexavalent chromium increased <br /> to 0.25 micrograms per Liter after 4 weeks) were observed. The radius of influence for OS1 <br /> and OS2 varied from 15' to 13'. The Report recommends installation of additional sparge <br /> wells in the northern portion of the groundwater plume to complete remediation, as OS1 and <br /> OS2 appear to be properly oriented to address the southern portion of the groundwater plume. <br /> I concur with the Report recommendation to pursue full scale remediation by ozone sparging. <br /> Please submit a work plan by 30 July 2010. Also, submit a Notice of Intent (NOI) for Regional <br /> Water Quality Control Board General Waste Discharge Requirements Order No. R5-2008- <br /> 0149 In-Situ Groundwater Remediation at Sites with Volatile Organic Compounds, Nitrogen <br /> Compounds, Perchlorate, Pesticides, Semi-Volatile Compounds and/or Petroleum <br /> Hydrocarbons (injection permit) by 30 July 2010. The injection permit is required prior to full <br /> scale implementation of the in-situ remediation. The documents for the NOI have been <br /> submitted to ATC by email.
