EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
• Groundwater monitoring was performed at 8125 S El Dorado Street J&L Market on
September 3, 2003 After the depth to the static water level was measured, the standing
water was purged and water samples were collected from the three monitoring wells The
samples were analyzed for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons in the gasoline and diesel
ranges, volatile aromatic hydrocarbons (BTEX benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and
xylene), gasoline oxygenates (methyl tertiary butyl ether, etc ), and lead scavengers {1,2-
dichloroethane
In the two impacted wells, the laboratory reported gasoline, diesel, and BTEX at
concentrations that were sharply lower than in the first and second quarters of 2003 The
TPH-g concentration dropped from 450 to 88 parts per billion in JLM-3 and from 2,900
to 240 ppb in JLM-5 Benzene and other aromatic hydrocarbons exhibited similar
declines but dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) and methyl-tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE)
concentrations were unchanged Dicholorethane was also unchanged in JLM-4, but
xylene and TPH-g rose slightly above the detection limit
The depth to groundwater on September 3 was approximately 30 feet, which is about 5
feet deeper than in March and 3 feet deeper than in May The piezometric surface sloped
to the southeast at a gradient of 0 0033 ft/ft
i
I
1
