1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> chis report describes field activities that were performed during the third quarter of 2003 <br /> on behalf of Mr and Mrs James Fisk, owners of the property located at 8125 S E1 <br /> Dorado Street in French Camp, California (Figure 1) Mr and Mrs Fisk operate J&L <br /> Market and Service at this address, and have been designated by the State Water <br /> Resources Control Board UST Cleanup Fund as the Responsible Party (RP) for <br /> petroleum contamination related to underground fuel tanks at that facility <br /> Contamination was discovered during the removal of three single-walled UST s and <br /> related piping in November 1995, and extensive interim remediation in the form of soil <br /> excavation then took place Upgradient Environmental Consultants (Upgradient <br /> Enviionmental) conducted further investigation in November 2001 to determine whether <br /> groundwater was impacted by the petroleum release, and submitted a Preliminary <br /> Investigation and Evaluation Report (PIER) in December 2001 Because evidence of <br /> groundwater contamination was obtained, the lead regulatory agency (the Central Valley <br /> Regional Water Quality Control Board [CVRWQCB])requested the RP to install <br /> groundwater monitoring wells and begin quarterly well monitoring The wells were <br /> drilled and sampled in June 2002 and placed on a schedule of quarterly monitoring This <br /> report presents the results for the third quarter of 2003 <br /> 2 0 PROCEDURES <br /> Monitoring was performed on September 3, 2003 The wells were opened and the water <br /> level was allowed to equilibrate with atmospheric pressure for approximately 15 minutes <br /> before the depth to water was measured Each well was then purged of approximately 6 <br /> gallons of water, and pH, temperature, and electrical conductivity were measured at 2- <br /> gallon intervals to confirm that the standing water had been removed and these <br /> parameters had stabilized (Appendix A) <br /> Water samples were collected by lowering a disposable Teflon® bailer to the water table <br /> Three 40-m1 vials and a 1-liter bottle were collected from each well and preserved in a <br /> cooled ice chest for later shipment to the laboratory <br /> The water samples were analyzed for Total Purgeable Petroleum Hydrocarbons in the <br /> gasoline range (TPH-g), Total Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons in the diesel range <br /> (TPH-d), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene (BTEX), five gasoline oxygenates, <br /> and dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) The laboratory report is included in Appendix B, and the <br /> results are discussed in section 3 0 <br /> s <br /> 2 <br />
