4. OBJECTIVES AND METHODOLOGY
This section outlines the objectives and methodology proposed for the field
studies to be performed during this site investigation. Any significant
deviations from this work plan will be communicated to the appropriate
agencies prior to performing the work.
4.1 Preliminary Field Work
Preliminary field activities will include obtaining well permits from the
San Joaquin County Department of Environmental Health, obtaining subsurface
utility clearance, and obtaining and organizing field equipment and
materials needed to perform all necessary field work.
IThe following tasks are proposed to accomplish this objective:
1 3542a/BAV102 7
Arrangements will be made to ensure that drilling and sampling equipment,
construction and sampling materials, and experienced labor will be available
at the site to begin and continue field operations. PG&E plans to perform
the drillling and sampling operations with PG&E personnel and equipment.
Prior to drilling operations, the logistics of the storage and disposal of
wastes generated during this investigation will be determined. These wastes
will include soil from drilling and sampling activities, groundwater
extracted during well development and sampling activities, water collected
from steam -cleaning activities, and disposable personal protective
disposal
equipment. Further details of waste storage and procedures are
included in Section 8.
4.2 Define the Vertical and Horizontal Distribution of Gas Plant
Residues
This objective will be accomplished by using field and analytical results of
soil samples collected from approximately 31 borings, and groundwater
samples collected from 10 monitoring wells located across the site to
develop areal and cross-sectional distribution maps of selected constituents
1
associated with gas plant residues.
IThe following tasks are proposed to accomplish this objective:
1 3542a/BAV102 7
