All sample containers will be labeled with the following information: sample
identification (i.e., well number), site location, date, time of sampling,
type of analysis, and initials of the person(s) collecting the sample.
Preservatives will be added to the appropriate sample containers prior to
sample collection. All samples will be placed on ice and transported to
' Eureka Laboratories, Inc. for analysis within acceptable holding times.
Table 1 shows the acceptable sample containers, preservation, and holding
times for each analytical parameter.
A single set of groundwater samples will be collected from each well and
analyzed for parameters selected because of their historic association with
the production of gas. A complete list of the chemical parameters selected
for analysis is included in Section 4.3.2.
4.2.2.3 Gas plant residue distribution maps
Laboratory results of the groundwater samples collected from those wells
screened at the water table will be used to estimate the horizontal
distribution of gas plant residues in groundwater near the top of the
uppermost aquifer around the perimeter of the Tracy site. Wells located
along the northern and eastern site boundaries will provide information on
the quality of the downgradient groundwater (i.e., groundwater that has
passed beneath the site). The well located along the southern site boundary
will provide information on the quality of the upgradient groundwater (i.e.
groundwater that has not yet passed beneath the site).
Laboratory results of the groundwater samples collected from the well
cluster located in the northeastern corner of the Tracy site will be used to
estimate the vertical distribution of gas plant residues (if any) in the
uppermost aquifer at the most downgradient location onsite.
A complete list of laboratory results of all analyzed parameters for all
monitoring wells will be included in the final report. An analysis of the
effects of the Tracy site on the groundwater quality of the uppermost
aquifer beneath the site will be included in the final report, through a
1 comparison of water quality conditions found in the different wells.
1 3542a/BAV102 16
