Procedures
written by laboratory personnel for specific instruments must conform to
this format.
8.3.1 Glassware and thermometers
Glassware is calibrated by the Laboratory according to the appropriate
procedure. Thermometers are calibrated against an NBS Standardized
Thermometer.
8.3.2 Balances
Balances are calibrated according to contract specifications.
8.3.3 Analytical Instruments
Instruments will be maintained and calibrated so as to operate within
manufacturer's specifications for sensitivity and precision. Calibration
will be done by laboratory personnel familiar with the instruments, or
by
manufacturer's representatives, through a maintenance contract of recurring
nature.
8.3.3.1 Se® and Repair
Many repairs and maintenance operations are performed by individuals
who have been trained in the operation and maintenance of the instruments
they are authorized to use.
