Piping
There are affixed waste oil 2-inch diameter steel pipes [22CCR §66265.192(k)(2)(C&D)]
used to transport fluid to the AST. The pipes are attached to the tank for ease of
avoiding spills when using the system and are therefore not considered more than a
transport mechanism from the collection point.
2.2.2. Pump
A pump [22CCR§66265.192(k)(2)(C&D)] is attached to the AST, to deliver waste oil to
the AST. Facility approved waste transport technicians remove waste oil utilizing truck
mounted hose and pump equipment for draining the AST.
2.3. STORAGE
Vehicle waste oil [22CCR§66265.192(k)(8)] is stored within the AST. Waste oil specific
gravity is approximated at 0.054 pounds per foot cubed (Ib/ft). The AST operating
capacity is 1,000 gallons.
2.4. VISUAL INSPECTION
A visual inspection [22CCR§66265.192(k)(9)] of the tank and its affiliated piping,
ancillary equipment, interior surface and exterior surface, if present at the time of the
inspection, did not reveal signs of leaks, corrosion, weld cracks or breaks or scrapes in
coating which may cause a release from the tank system. There were no discrepancies
noted at the time of the AST visual inspection. Figure 1 shows the top and north side
views of the tank. A visual assessment summary is included as Table 3.
3.0. SECONDARY CONTAINMENT
The waste tank is double walled and has a 100% secondary containment within the
basement of the auto service bay for containment of a spill from the primary. The AST
top and north side views are shown on Figure 1.
3.1. WASTE OIL TANK (AST) DESIGN
The manufacturer of the AST was not identifiable by tank marking or Facility documents
but is considered by industry standard as a bench top tank style. The primary
compartments are typically manufactured [22CCR§66264.193(e)(3)] from A36 steel with
