Metal fines generated from the maintenance shop are being recycled as scrap metal without first <br /> determining particle size or hazardous properties. Any person who generates a waste shall determine if <br /> the waste is a hazardous waste. Immediately stop recycling metal fines, make a hazardous waste <br /> determination for the metal fines, and manage it according the Title 22 hazardous waste regulations. <br /> Particles 100 microns or smaller must be handled as hazardous waste if the metal is determined to be a <br /> hazardous waste. Submit a statement and supporting documentation explaining how this waste was <br /> managed by 3-2-12. <br /> 301. Spilled diesel fuel is on the dirt next to the diesel fuel tank. A wet oil spot approximately one square <br /> foot in size is on the dirt drive way south of the maintenance shop. Facilities shall be maintained and <br /> operated to minimize the possibility of a fire, explosion, or release of hazardous waste to air, soil, or <br /> surface water which could threaten human health or the environment. Immediately clean up the spilled <br /> diesel, oil and contaminated soil, and manage according to Title 22 hazardous waste regulations. Submit <br /> a statement and supporting documentation explaining how this waste was managed by 3-2-12. <br /> Note: The following issues were corrected during the inspection. <br /> 605. The red 55 gallon drum of used oil is not labeled. The ten 2.5 gallon containers of waste diesel fuel <br /> were not labeled. All hazardous waste containers shall be marked with the following information: <br /> 1. the words "Hazardous Waste" <br /> ALL EHD STAFF TIME ASSOCIATED WITH FAILING TO COMPLY BY THE ABOVE NOTED DATES WILL BE BILLED AT THE CURRENT HOURLY RATE. <br /> THIS FACILITY IS SUBJECT TO REINSPECTION AT ANY TIME AT END'S CURRENT HOURLY RATE <br /> Inspector: ReceivedTitle <br /> 01 . <br /> EHD 22-02 Rev 09/01/11 Page 4 HW INSPECTION REPORT <br />
