a
Quarterly Report - 1*East 1 lth Street, Tracy • Page 5
. WORK IN PROGRESS
The following work is in progress
Remediation
Subject to timely issuance of the requisite permits and authorizations to encroach on the
public sidewalks and to cut-off and seal the sanitary sewer branch that serviced the site by
the City of Tracy, the initial stages of the soil remediation work described in the CAP is
scheduled to begin during the week of February 12th 1996 Thereafter, the progress of
remediation will follow the general schedule presented in the CAP ,but variances from that
schedule may be necessary, depending upon the actual conditions encountered in the
subsurface during the process of excavation, the contingencies of weather and timely
issuance by the CRWQCB of a permit to treat and discharge groundwater that it may be
necessary to pump from the remedial excavation before that excavation can be backfilled
An application for such permit was, as noted above, submitted to the CRWQCB during
the period that is the subject of this status report
Groundwater Quality Monitoring
As noted above, a round of groundwater sampling and analysis was conducted at the
subject site on November 15th 1995 according to the procedures and schedule established
by the Groundwater Sampling Plan - pto.perty at 152 East 11 th. Street,_Tracy, California
Supplemental samples were also recovered at that time to provide the necessary data to
support an application for discharge of treated groundwater that is expected to be
generated dunng the site remediation work that is defined to the Csur_ective_ Action Plan
(ACI?.nded) - 52 East 11th. Street, Tracy California. that was approved by the SJCPHS
on December 20th 1995
The approved CAP includes a post-remediation groundwater-quality monitoring plan The
first element of that plan calls for a comprehensive round of groundwater sampling and
analysis from all wells extant at that time (i a those presently existing wells that will
remain after the remedial work is complete and others that will, in compliance with the
CAP, be installed when the site is restored following backfilling of the remedial
excavation) Based on current planning and scheduling estimates, it is expected that the
first post-remediation round of groundwater quality monitoring will be performed in April
1996
Petroleum Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund Application
The accounting and clerical work necessary to prepare and maintain the cost data and
documentation required for periodic submittal of Standard Form Payment Requests under
the Petroleum Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund in compliance with the
CSWRCB's administrative rules is ongoing
