Corrective Action Plan
Page 29
Lead < 5 µg/Liter 50 µg/Liter
e
Note
1 The sum of the concentrations of benzene ethyl benzene, toluene and xylenes in any single sample
shall not exceed 5 µg/Liter
The pH of the discharge is limited to not less than 6 5 nor greater than 8 5 and it shall not
be acutely toxic as defined by less than 90% survival of standard test organisms 50% of
the time, and less than 70% survival 10% of the time in 96-hour, static or continuous-
flow, bioassay tests in undiluted samples of the effluent
Note If the proposed discharge is permitted by the CRWQCB under an alternate permit
procedure to NPDES No CA0082929, the quality of the water discharged will comply
with the requirements of the alternate permit procedure, but it is expected that such
requirements would be the same as, or less stringent than, those specified herein
Eluent Monitoring
The quality of the water discharged from the groundwater treatment system will be
monitored to check for compliance with the requirements of NPDES Permit No
CA0082929, or such other permit as will be issued by the CRWQCB Samples for this
purpose will be taken during treatment of the first charge of water pumped from the
remedial excavation into the treatment system and once per week thereafter while the
treatment system is in operation The cumulative total of effluent discharged from the
treatment system will be recorded daily
Samples of the discharge will be drawn from the sampling port (V SP-1) installed in the
piping downstream of the activated carbon treatment units (i a immediately upstream of
the point of discharge of the treated water to the storm sewer - see Figure 10 for sampling
port location) The sample water will be directed into clean glass vials supplied by the
laboratory via a tube connected to the sampling port so as to completely fill the vials The
sample vials will then be tightly closed, labeled for identification, entered into chain-of-
custody control and packed on chemical ice for transport to the laboratory within 24
hours
These samples will be analyzed as follow
p y s
Analyte Method of Analysis
pH EPA Method 150 1
Specific Conductivity EPA Method 120 1
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons EPA Method 5030/8015M
(as Gasoline)
