i Quarterly Report - 152 East 1 I th Street, Tracy Page 4
as
WORK IN PROGRESS
• The following work is in progress
Groundwater Quality Monitoring
The round of sampling that was conducted at the site on February 25th 1994 completed
the program of base-line sampling and one full cycle of seasonal groundwater quality
monitoring according to the procedures established by the Ciround3yater Sampling Plan
+
Propelly at 52 that was approved by the SJCPHS
Since the program was initiated, groundwater flow directions and gradients and
contaminant distributions have been consistent and the concentrations of contaminants in
the groundwater have varied within a narrow range
Based on the understanding of the groundwater regime and the distribution of
contaminants obtained from all of the data gathered through completion the February
25th, round of sampling, consideration was given to reducing the frequency of routine
groundwater-quality monitoring to a sampling round conducted during the annual wet
season However, in a letter dated April 13th 1994 the SJCPHS requested that routine
groundwater-quality monitoring be continued on a semi-annual schedule In compliance
with this guidance, routine monitoring will be continued according to the schedule defined
in the Groundwater Sampling Plan and the next routine sampling round will be conducted
. at the close of the forthcoming dry season That work is currently scheduled for late
September 1994
It is expected that additional groundwater sampling and analysis, beyond the requirements
for routine monitoring, will be necessary to effectively control and monitor a site
remediation program When the details of a corrective action plan have been fialized, a
comprehensive groundwater-quality monitoring plan will be developed to cost-effectively
meet those specific requirements as well as the need for routine, periodic monitoring of
groundwater conditions
Corrective Action Plan
As noted above, engineering and design studies for a Corrective Action Plan (CAP) for
remediation of soil and groundwater at the site are well advanced It is estimated the CAP
will be complete in approximately four weeks from the date of this report
Petroleum Underground Storage Tani. Cleanup Fund Application
The Navarras have applied to the California State Water Resources Control Board
(SWRCB) under the Petroleum Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund for a grant to
meet the cost of investigating and remediating the site
