Quarterly Report - 152 East 11th Street, Tracy Page 3
. In connection with investigations of a release of hydrocarbon fuels at the Beacon station, a
total of nine ground water monitoring wells have been installed on and around that
property The SJCPHS has assigned the Ultramar property Site Code 1389
Figure 2 is a plan showing the location of monitoring wells that have been installed for the
subject site at 152 East 11th Street that is owned by the Navarras, for the site of Ultramar
Inc 's Beacon Station at 153 East 11th Street and in surrounding areas Wells installed for
the Navarras are designated NAV and those installed for Ultramar are designated ULT
ACTIVITY DURING THE REPORTING PERIOD
Groundwater Quality Monitoring
On October 13th , 1993 a round of groundwater sampling was conducted at the 152 East
I lth Street site The work was part of the program established by the Groundwater
Sampling Plan - ro rtya_. 152 East 11th. Street, Tracy_ California which has been
approved by the SJCPHS The first round of groundwater sampling conducted according
to the Plan was performed on July 8th , 1993 and included analysis of samples from all of
the wells in both the Navarra and Ultramar arrays The results of that comprehensive
program of groundwater sampling and analysts were presented in the report titled
Extended Inyestigatim of GrQuodwater Quality - PropeM at 152 East 1.1th. Stm,-
Traa. Californi , that was submitted to the SJCPHS on July 26th 1993
• The sampling round reported herein was intended to investigate depths to groundwater,
the groundwater gradient, the groundwater flow direction and groundwater quality at the
end of the regional dry season A round of sampling to investigate conditions during the
wet season is scheduled for February 1994
The above-cited sampling plan anticipated that the current round of sampling would
include recovery of samples from selected wells installed by Ultramar for the Beacon
Station at 153 East I lth Street as well as from selected well in the array installed by the
Navarras for their 152 East Street property However, for the reasons discussed later,
access to the Ultramar wells is no longer available to the Navarras Thus, in compliance
with the contingency provisions included to the approved sampling plan, the sampling
round conducted on October 13th , 1993 did not include any work requiring access to
Ultramar's wells
To initiate the October 13th sampling program, the depth to groundwater in each of the
Navarra monitoring wells (NAV-1 through NAV-8) was measured using a conductivity
probe These depth are recorded in Table 1 which also gives the water table elevations
computed relative to the local datum on the top of the casing of Well ULT-7 (Note For
convenience of reference, all depth-to-groundwater data that has been obtained during
successive sampling rounds conducted for the wells installed for both the 152 and 153
0 East 1 lth Street properties since the well heads of all wells in the array were surveyed in
