PURPOSE: <br /> A routine inspection was conducted at Sumiden Wire Products <br /> Corporation, as a part of the San Joaquin County, Public Health <br /> Services Hazardous Waste Generator Program. <br /> II . OWNER/OPERATOR: <br /> Sumiden Wire Corporation is a Japanese Corporation. The Chairman and <br /> Chief Executive Officer is Ted Kamise. The corporation headquarters <br /> is located at 1412 El Pinal, Stockton, CA. General Manager of the <br /> 1412 El Pinal facility is Robert Olson. <br /> IV. BACKGROUND: <br /> On March 2 , 1988 , Public Health Services signed a Memorandum of <br /> Understanding with the Department of Health Services authorizing PHS <br /> to perform hazardous waste generator inspections in San Joaquin <br /> County. <br /> Sumiden Wire Corporation was identified as a hazardous waste generator <br /> in 1987, and a routine inspection was conducted on August 23 , 1989 , by <br /> Public Health Services, accompanied by the Department of Health <br /> Services. <br /> V. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF FACILITY: <br /> SWPC has been located in the E1 Pinal Industrial Park since 1979 . <br /> SWPC manufactures pre-stress concrete strand and stainless steel wire. <br /> During processing, the raw material (steel rod) is run through a <br /> pickling solution of sulfuric acid to remove a rust resistant coating <br /> and then is dipped in zinc phosphate.
