The owner or operator of a hazardous <br /> waste tank shall obtain a written assessment reviewed and certified by an independent, qualified, professional <br /> engineer, registered in California attesting that the system has sufficient structural integrity, is acceptable for the <br /> transferring, storing, and treating of hazardous waste, and that the tanks and containment system are suitably <br /> designed. Immediately have an assessment prepared for the 500 gallon used oil tank. Submit a schedule showing <br /> when this will be accomplished to the EHD and submit a copy of the assessment to the EHD for review. <br /> This is a Class I violation. <br /> 507 CCR 66265.195 Failed to conduct daily inspections of hazardous waste tank system and maintain records onsite. <br /> Inspections of the hazardous waste tank system are not performed and documented. The following items are <br /> required to be inspected at least daily: <br /> 1. overfill/spill control equipment; <br /> 2. aboveground portions of the tank system to detect corrosion or releases of water; <br /> 3. data gathered from monitoring and leak-detection equipment; <br /> 4. outside areas of the tank system including secondary containment to detect erosion or signs of releases of <br /> hazardous waste; <br /> 5.for uncovered tanks, the level of waste in the tank. <br /> Immediately begin required inspections of the hazardous waste tank system, and document the items inspected. <br /> Submit a copy of the inspection log for the next 30 days to the EHD. <br /> This is a repeat violation, Class ll. <br /> 601 CCR 66262.34(a)Stored hazardous waste on site longer than 90 days without a permit or authorization. <br /> The following containers were observed without an accumulation start date. <br /> In the used oil storage area: <br /> -Five 5 gallon plastic buckets containing used paper oil filters <br /> -One black 55 gallon metal drum containing used paper oil filters <br /> -One blue 55 gallon poly drum containing used antifreeze <br /> In the pit area: <br /> -One 5 gallon plastic bucket containing paper oil filters <br /> -One black 55 gallon steel drum containing oily absorbent and metal fines <br /> Facilities who generate more than 1000 kg of hazardous waste per month may store waste on site up to 90 days. <br /> Since it cannot be determined how long the hazardous waste has been on site, immediately contact a licensed <br /> hazardous waste hauler to dispose of this waste under manifest.
