• The well will be approximately 100 feet deep with approximately 45 feet of screen
between the depths of 55-100 feet.
• A five foot section of blank casing will be installed beneath the screen to act as a sand
trap.
_ 5.3.4 Well Development
The well will be developed using a surge block, bailer, rapid pumping and possibly side
jetting. Development will be complete after a minimum of four hours of continuous work
with the development tools, and when water runs clear after steady pumping at 30 gpm for
at least an hour.
A maximum of 50,000 gallons of development water can be accommodated in the former
rinse water pond which will be listed in the Waste Discharge Requirements as a permitted
disposal area. If necessary, additional water will be stored in large vessels on site until
evaporation and treatment, according to the waste discharge requirements, can be
accomplished.
5.3.5 Soil Sampling
•. Cuttings above the water table will be disposed of at appropriate locations on site.
Cuttings from below 64 feet (water table elevation)will be stored in containers and
tested for chloroform content using method EPA 8240. If chloroform content of
cuttings is below 45 mg/kg, cuttings will be disposed of at appropriate locations on
site. If chloroform is present above 45 mg/kg, cuttings will be aerated by turning and
will be resampled in 10 days. If chloroform content of cuttings persists above 45
mg/kg, after a reasonable number of turnings, cuttings will be transported to a suitable
class II landfill or a batch asphalt plant for disposal.
• The method of soil sample collection will depend on the drilling method and may
include driven sleeved samples or cuttings returned from the air circulation system.
Samples will be retained for examination in plastic Ziploc bags. Odors will be noted in
_ the descriptive log. A sample of any fine-textured materials between 98-100 feet may
be collected if encountered at the bottom of the well boring. The sample will be
retained in a brass sleeve and archived for possible measurement of vertical hydraulic
conductivity.
5.3.6 Well Sampling
• Samples of the extracted groundwater will be collected from the outfall pipe at the
former rinse water pond on a quarterly schedule in conformance with the schedule for
the existing monitoring and reporting plan and according to requirements in the Waste
_ Discharge Requirements.
• No purging will be required because the well will be continuously pumping.
• Sample collection and preservation will follow procedures described in the current
monitoring and reporting program.
5.3.7 Water Level Measurement
• The elevation reference point will be surveyed to within 0.01 foot.
• Ground surface elevation shall be within 0.1 foot.
+ 4
L CONDOR
