The following standard emergency procedures will be used by on-site personnel. The Site <br /> Safety Officer shall be notified of any on-site emergencies and be responsible for ensuring <br /> that the appropriate procedures are followed. <br /> Personnel injury_ Upon notification of an injury, the Project Team Leader and Site Safety <br /> Officer will assess the nature of the injury. The Site Safety Officer shall also comply with <br /> the "triple E Produce Safety Program requirements. If the injury is in the area of the <br /> drilling or excavating equipment, the equipment shall be shut down to eliminate running <br /> equipment hazards. Equipment will remain shut down until the Site Safety Officer <br /> authorizes work to proceed. if the cause of the injury or loss of the injured person does <br /> not affect the performance of site personnel, operations may continue. <br /> Fire/Exl:dosion: in the event of a fire or e-q)losion on site, the site safety officer or <br /> alternate shall call 911 and if appropriate, (the fire department) and all personnel shall <br /> move to a safe distance from the involved area. <br /> Personal Protective Equipment Failure: If any site worker experiences a failure or <br /> alteration of protective equipment that affects worker's protection, that person shall <br /> immediately proceed to the nearest staging area to repair or replace the damaged <br /> equipment. The person shall not return to the work area until the protective equipment is <br /> repaired or replaced. If the equipment can not be repaired or replaced, the worker will <br /> proceed to primary staging area or leave the facility. <br /> Other Equipment Failure: If any other equipment on site fails to operate properly, the <br /> Project Team Leader and Site Safety Officer shall be notified and then determine the effect <br /> of this failure on continuing operations on site. If the failure affects the safety of personnel <br /> or prevents completion of the work plan tasks, all personnel shall leave the work area until <br /> the situation is evaluated and appropriate actions taken. <br /> EMERGENCY MEDICAL, INFORMATION FOR SPECIFIC HAZARDS PRESENT: <br /> Hazard : Heat stress <br /> S}nnptoms of Exuosure: dizziness, headache, nausea, dryness of the mouth, slowing <br /> mental ability, elevated body temperature, chills, clamminess. <br /> First Aid: Move person to a shaded, cool area. Wet person down with cool water. <br /> Wetting the )lead with quantities of cool water will help reduce body temperature. Have <br /> person drink cool water.
