This report has been prepared in accordance with the Waste
Discharge Requirements issued to Triple E Produce by the Regional Board on May 3, 1996.
As indicated in the enclosed report, there has been a substantial decrease in the chloroform plume
originating beneath the former rinse pond at the Triple E Produce Facility. Also, the results from the
Fourth Quarter groundwater sampling and the verification sampling conducted by Triple E in
October 1997 indicate that the chloroform concentrations exhibited during the Third Quarter 1997
testing were not indicative of actual chloroform levels in underlying groundwater. The Third Quarter
samplings results were formally qualified and subject to verification sampling due to post-sampling
contamination detected in laboratory blanks and trip blanks. The October verification samples and the
Fourth Quarter 1997 results follow the same trend in chloroform levels noted in samples prior to the
Third Quarter testing.
If you have any questions regarding the enclosed report, please do not hesitate to give me a call.
Respectfully submitted,
TRIPLE E PRODUCE
MR.
