(Condor) is pleased to respond
to your letter on 4 November 1996. The aforementioned letter references our letter of 1 1 September 1996
which responded to four issues of concern in your letter of 23 August 1996 Our comments below
correspond to the noted sections of these letters.
Sampling Program
We understand that you accept the methods which the analytical laboratory is using for determination of
THMs and standard minerals required by the ground water monitoring plan (WDRs No. 96-118).
Well Purging
Purge water from the monitoring wells will not be discharged to the ground surface if any detectable
chloroform was present in the monitoring well during the preceding four (4) quarters of sampling, unless a
current sample of the (purge) water to be discharged does not have detectable chloroform From the
chronological data, MW-3 and MW-4B meet this non-detect standard and purge water from these two
wells may be discharged to the ground surface. At the present time, the other wells have some level of
detectable chloroform. Purge water from these wells will be containerized and discharged to the aeration
pond unless a current sample of the water does not have detectable chloroform
Monitoring for Ground Water Limitations
We propose to employ visual comparisons of analytes specified in the ground water part of the Monitoring
and Reporting Program. The intent will be to identify constituents moving into the extraction area from
PMWIRlIAIRALAITAI . r'-cninr_If'AI _ r. .,. -.-,.,,• _
