NNW ..r
TRIPLE E PRODUCE -3-
GROUND WATER TREATMENT AND DISPOSAL
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
4. The treatment facilities shall be designed, constructed, operated, and maintained to prevent
inundation or washout due to floods with a 100-year return frequency.
AERATION POND DISPOSAL
5. The treated ground water returned to the aeration pond for evaporation and percolation shall
not exceed the following limits:
Monthly Daily
Constituent Units Average Maximum
Chloroform µg/1 20 50
Total Trihalomethanes µ9/1 20 50
6. The aeration pond shall not have a pH less than 6.5 or greater than 8.5.
7. Aeration pond(s) shall be managed to prevent breeding of mosquitoes. In particular,
a. An erosion control program should assure that small coves and irregularities are not
created around the perimeter of the water surface.
b. Weeds shall be minimized through control of water depth, harvesting, or herbicides.
c. Dead algae, vegetation, and debris shall not accumulate on the water surface.
8. Pond(s) shall have sufficient capacity to accommodate allowable wastewater flow and design
seasonal precipitation and ancillary inflow and infiltration during the nonirrigation season.
Design seasonal precipitation shall be based on total annual precipitation using a return period
of 100 years, distributed monthly in accordance with historical rainfall patterns. Freeboard
shall never be less than two feet(measured vertically to the lowest point of overflow).
9. On or about 1 October of each year, available pond storage capacity shall at least equal the
volume necessary to comply with Discharge Specification No. 8.
APRICOT ORCHARD SPRAY FIELD
10. Treated ground water disposed to the spray fields in the apricot orchard shall not exceed the
following limits:
Monthly Daily
Constituent Units Median Maximum
Chloroform µg/1 0.5 5.0
Total Trihalomethanes 99/1 0.5 5.0
11. There shall be no standing water in the spray field disposal areas eight (8) hours after treated
ground water is applied.
C. Ground Water Limitations:
The discharge of treated ground water shall not cause underlying ground water beneath the disposal
areas to:
1. Contain waste constituents in concentrations statistically greater than background water
quality. (For purposes of comparison, background water quality shall be determined by
monitoring wells upgradient of the individual disposal areas and when background
