Harding Way
Stockton, CA 95204
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) is currently
investigating this site for leaking underground tanks that were removed from this site in January 1991,
Stoddard Solvent was the petroleum constituent stored in the eight (8)tanks at the time of removal.
Previous quarterly groundwater sampfing events have noted "anomalies" in the chromatography and PHS-EHD
has required additional analyses for the groundwater in an attempt to identify the constituents that may be
interfering with the required tanklpetroleum analyses.
On March 7, 1997, PHS-END reviewed the groundwater monitoring report for the December 17, 1996 event
that verified that solvent constituents as high as 5,200 ugll have impacted the groundwater in the area of MW-
3R, and at lesser concentrations at MW-1 and MW-2 onsite. Cis-1,2 DCE, and PCE are the highest level
constituents noted onsite as over the MCL's, followed by Chloroform levels of 1.1 ug/l and 1.4 ug/l in MW-4 and
MW-5 located off-site.
This site has Mr. Peter Wallace, 19431 DeVries Rd, Lodi, Ca., 95240 listed as the responsible party for the site.
The phone numbers are (209) 477-7605 and (209)479-1628. PHS-EHD has asked Mr. Wallace' consultant to
forward reports to your office for your review.
Currently this underground tank site has completed its investigative phase as required by PHS-EHD. Soil and
groundwater extents for Stoddard Solvent have been delineated and the risk to the groundwater and the public
is being evaluated. Prior to any formal conclusions, PHS-EHD would like to consider any comments that you
may offer.
You may contact Michael Infurna at(209) 468-3454 if your have any questions.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental
Health Division
Michael Infurna, Senior REHS Margaret Lagorio, REHS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor
MI/
C'.
