San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department has received and reviewed
Additional Site Assessment Work Plan dated October 30, 2006, submitted by Advanced
GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE) on your behalf for the above-referenced site. In this work
plan, AGE proposes the advancement of two cone penetration testing (CPT) borings,
CPT-1 and CPT-2, and paired direct-push borings, to assess soil lithology and
stratigraphy and collect groundwater samples for chemical analysis; and installation of
two groundwater monitoring wells to further assess the groundwater plume.
EHD approves the advancement of two CPT borings to total depths of approximately 100
feet below surface grade (bsg). CPT-1 will be Iocated approximately five feet
north/northeast of monitoring well MW-1, and CPT-2 will be located approximately 55
feet southeast of MW-1. Groundwater samples will be collected from the twin boring
adjacent to each CPT boring at depths determined by CPT findings, and analyzed for
total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-g); benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and
total xylenes (BTEX); methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether
(ETRE), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME), tertiary-butyl
alcohol (TBA), methanol, ethanol, 1,2-dibromoethane (EDB), and 1,2-dichloroethane
(1,2-DCA).
EHD also approves the installation of monitoring wells MW-4 and MW-5 after collecting
soil samples from the pilot borings at five-foot intervals for lithologic characterization.
Based on field observations, selected soil samples will be analyzed for TPH-g, BTEX,
MTBE, ETBE, TAME, DIPE, TBA, 1,2-DCA, and EDB. MW-4 will be located
approximately ten feet north of MW-1 and the well's total depth and ten-foot screen
interval will be set in the second groundwater zone as identified by CPT-1 findings.
MW-5 will be located approximately 50 feet north/northwest of MW-3 with a screen
interval between approximately 25 and 45 feet bsg. Groundwater samples will be
analyzed quarterly for TPH-g, BTEX, MTBE, ETBE, TAME, DIPE, TBA, 1,2-DCA, and
EDB.
