HARDING WAY SITE CODE: 2514
STOCKTON, CA 95202
On December 8, 1993, the San Joaquin County Public Health
Services Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) Technical Review
Committee (TRC) met to discuss this site and determine what
steps) may be necessary to continue the investigation for
contaminants still present in the ground below the surface.
Recent data submitted to PHS-EHD was presented to the TRC and
indicated that groundwater in monitoring wells 4 and 5 contained
total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline and diesel,
-respectfully, and other fuel constituents. Soil analyses from
slant boring B-17 indicated that soil below Harding Way has been
impacted by petroleum releases.
The TRC was unable to determine if the soil or groundwater
contamination is from an offsite source or if it is from this
site and has migrated northerly. To further evaluate the possible
existence of an offsite and/or a possible continuing onsite
source, the TRC recommends three (3) additional monitoring wells
be installed to produce a completed Problem Assessment Report.
Based on the TRC review, two monitoring wells are to be placed in
public property areas directly across Harding Way from MW4 and
MW5 to verify both soil and groundwater conditions downgradient
from any possible sources from the west. In addition, one
monitoring well is to be placed upgradient in the old tank pit
area onsite to confirm that contaminated soil was removed and to
evaluate groundwater conditions.
Adequate soil samples shall be collected and analyzed from
monitoring well installations to ensure that a complete vertical
determination can be made if contamination is encountered. Data
collected during this phase of investigation will be used to
determine if this site will require remediation or possibly to
concur with proposals that onsite conditions pose no threat to
groundwater or the public health.
A NvWm of San Joaquin Copmy Heahh Care Servkrs
