NOW
wHF
WHF Environmental Consultants, Inc.
Post Office Box 6729
Modesto, CA 95355-6729
(209) 579-8138
9 June 1992
Laurie A. Cotulla, REHS, Program Manager
Environmental Health Division
San Joaquin County Public Health Services
PO Box 2009
Stockton CA 95201
SUBJECT: Blockbuster Video/Yellow Submarine
140 W. Harding Way, Stockton, CA
Dear Ms. Cotulla:
This letter is written in response to your undated letter, which was received in
our office on May 13, 1992, regarding the Phase II Remedial Investigation Results
Addendum, dated April 2, 1992.
Enclosed, for your review, is the revised Figure 4 from the above referenced
report, as you requested. Please note that the dots shown on the plan portion of the
figure represent points on the surface of the ground below which grab samples were
taken in the excavations and not borehole collars as indicated in the original Figure 4.
The sample points are indicated by "X" symbols on the section portion of the figure.
Each point is labeled with the surface reference point and the vertical depth below that
point, except in the case of point 13D where the samples were taken along the sloping
southern end of the trench and the depths were measured along the slope, rather than
vertically.
Sample RE#1-22' was a grab sample taken from the bottom of the re-excavation
and represented what appeared to be the most contaminated area of plume at the bottom
of the excavation. At that depth (22 feet), the contamination plume measured two by
two feet in cross section, which was a fourfold reduction from its cross sectional area
just four feet shallower. At a depth of 18 feet, the plume had measured four by four
feet in cross section.
Chain of Custody and laboratory data sheets supporting the analyses reported on
the revised Figure 4 are attached to this letter for your review.
