Advanced GeoEnviron" mental, Ince -� - 28 July 2003 AGE-NC Project No 03-1038 SEP 0 5 2003 Ms Kitty Walker ENVIRONMENT HEALTH CITY OF STOCKTON HOUSING AND REDEVELOPMEA%ATICES MENT 305 North El Dorado Street, Suite 200 Stockton, CA 95202 ' Subject- Phase II Site Assessment Report Carando Machine Works 420 North Madison Street, Stockton, California ' Dear Ms Walker At the request of the City of Stockton Housing and Redevelopment,Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc (AGE)has prepared this Phase II Site Assessment Report for the property located at 420 North Madison Street, Stockton, California(the site) The work was performed as part of a due diligence effort to investigate areas of potential environmental concern at the site The Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board requirements for the investigation of underground storage tank(UST) sites were used as guidelines for the investigation The location of the site and its surroundings are illustrated in Figure 1, primary features on the site and bonng ler ations are illustrated in Figure 2 SITE LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION f The site is located in a topographically flat area of west-central Stockton, between Fremont Street and Steamboat Levee The area surrounding the site has been utilized primarily for light-industrial and commercial purposes The Carando property is nearly entirely developed as warehouse,the City of Stockton parking lot currently has no improvements beyond nominal landscaping SANBORN FIRE. INSURANCE MAP REVIEW As part of historical research for the environmental assessment of the site,AGE performed a review of available Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps The Sanborn Maps were acquired from Environmental Data Resources (EDR), Inc Maps for the years 1895, 1917, 1950 and 1972 were available A review of the Maps indicated 837 Shaw Road,Stockton, California 95215 Telephone(209)467-1006 FAX(209) 467-1118
