J
TrOadMI&RD10
_i
The release that occurred at the former Tank No. 8 location has been identified as being responsible for 1
the groundwater contamination currently present at the site. Two former monitoring wells, MW-21A and
MW-216, located adjacent to the former UST location, have had significant concentrations of petroleum
hydrocarbons prior to their destruction in 2004(Figure 3).
4.0 PROPOSED GROUNDWATER MONITORING J
This work plan proposes to install four monitoring wells at two locations(wells MW-15-1A, MW-15-113,
MW-15-2A and MW-15-26) as shown on Figure 3. The well locations were selected to better characterize
the extent of the groundwater impacts related to the former USTs and to help evaluate the need for any
additional monitoring and/or remedial measures. Monitoring wells MW-15-1A and MW-15-2A will be J
screened from approximately 10 to 30 feet bgs in order to intersect with the top of the A zone. J
Monitoring well MW-15-IB and MW-15-213 will be screened from approximately 45-55 feet bgs in order to ✓
intersect with the top of the deeper groundwater zone.
Wells MW-15-1A and MW-15-IB will be located where the former unknown UST was discovered during
the RDIP excavation and by the location of former groundwater monitoring well MW-12. Both wells will
be located down-gradient from the Upper and Lower Water Zones. Historical concentrations of
groundwater samples documented by AGE at former monitoring well MW-12 had always been below the
1
laboratory reporting limit. These well locations were chosen to monitor the impact that the unknown UST
could have had on groundwater.
Well MW-15-1A and MW-15-1B will be located as close as possible to the location of the former UST-8,
which is now located beneath the Arena, and near former monitoring wells MW-21A and MW-2113, which
had the highest historical TPH concentrations.
4.1 Monitoring Well Installation and Development
a
All drilling and well installation will be performed with the appropriate permitting and oversight of the
SJCEHD.
J
Prior to drilling, the following will be performed:
• Drilling permits will be obtained from the SJCEHD;
4
25971030.DGD 9 October 2009
