(MA I-},.astate-certified laboratory; for analysis. Selected samples, will•be analyzed
for total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline and diesel.(TPH-g, TPH-d) and for volatile.
aromatics (benzene, toluene,.ethylbenzene and xylenes: BTE&X) with methyl tertiary-butyl ether
(MTBE) in accordance with appiopriate,EPA analytical methods. The -laboratory report, testing
methods,'laboratory quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reports and,sample chain=of-custody
documentation will be documented.in.a report along with findings and.recommendations.
3.0. PROCEDURES-
3.1.
ROCEDURES 3.1. PROBING AND SAMPLING '
The following procedures will'be performed for the installation of probe borings:
I.." Notify the PHS'EHD at least 48 hours prior to commencement of any ~work.
2. Advarice three soil probe borings at the site to depths of approximately 40,feet below surface
grade(bsg) using a•van-mounted Geoprobe probing unit equipped-with I.25-inch diameter
rods. Ifhydrocarbon=impacted soil: is encountered, as evidenced by.field observations'
probings will be advanced below the impacted soil interval, if practicable, to define the
vertical'extent of the impacted soil. The proposed probe boring Iocations are depicted on
• Figure 2..
. Decontaminate sariipling equipment in.an Alconox solutio'-ii and double-rinse with clean tap
water prior to each sampling run.
4: Obtain soil.samples at 5-foot depth.intervals during probing advancement. Sampling will
r- . .,begin at a depth of 15 feet bsg in,the probing near GP-1 and at.10 feet bsg in the remaining
"two probings. Samples will be collected using a Geoprobe soil sampling assembly pre-loaded
with four 1.125-inch by,6-inch brass-sleeves.
7 "5. Preserve soil, samples in the second brass sleeve by covering both.ends with Teflon sheets,
capping; and'sealing with tape:
r^ 6: Label samples with date,location;boring number and depth,-time of sampling,and sampler's'
-initials.
7: . Log samples on a chain=of-custody form and store samples in a`chilled container pending
4 transport to.a.state-certified laborafory.
8. .. Monitor soil sample duplicates for the presence.of organic vapor using an organic vapor
Advanced GeoEnvironmcntal,[no,
