DEPTH„TO 0R0 M &TETER_ !
Based upon maps ps published by.,,the San Joaquin,-County Flood Control"
District, the highest water table in recent year;`s was the Spring.
of 1983, (PLATE V. ) which was measured at approximately 20' MSL
datura; or about 35' below ground level at this location. The
. water table was measured at about 60' bgl in the` Spring of ' 1991,
but recent measurements have shown several feet of Lrebound due to'
the heavy rains of 1992/93. Water was not encountered 'during the:
excavation work covered by this report`.
LY OF WORK DONE:
On January 12, 1990, two (2) 'UST' s were removed from the
property; one had contained gasoline, and one held diesel fuel.
The tanks were used to fuel the numerous vehicle's and machinery i
of Claude C. Wood Co_ , a aarge aggregate prod6cer and construc-
tion firm. Soil samples taken from "beneath the removed tanks
were analyzed by FGL Environmental per. County 'EHD requirements.
Laboratory results of the soil samples taken from beneath the
gasoline tank were within acceptable limits, and no further
action was required by the EHD.
Laboratory results of the two soil samples taken from beneath the
removed diesel tank revealed that BTEX was below' detection
limits, but TEPH was measured at 11.0 mg/kg from the sample taken
from the north end of the .tank, and 1090 mg/kg from the one from
the south end. An Underground Storage Tank Unauthorized Release
Contamination Site Report was issued by Letetia R.esch of the .
County EHD, which stated that additional site assessment would be.
required; (see EXHIBIT $ for a, copy of that report. )
k
On April 28, 1993, a workplan was prepared by .Claude C: Wood !Co. , i
which proposed to remove additional spoil from the site of the
removed diesel UST and take appropriate soil samples under the
direction of a Registered Geologist. PLATE- VI, from that work-
plan, shows the proposed configuration and sample locations. A
copy of the workplan is attached as EXHIBIT D.
After receiving approval from the County EHD 'work began on May
12, 1993, using Jim Thorpe Oil equipment & personel under the
direction of Wm. Hunter, RG, ` from `Wm. J. Hunter & Assoc'iates. E
Spoil was removed by the excavator bucket, an' d placed on the
ground; it was then picked up with a smaller front loading E
backhoe and placed on plastic at a site to the west of the
excavation. The material consisted primarily of very soft & i
unconsolidated, dry to slightly moist, tan to ;light brown sandy
loam, with some large irregular inclusions,. (nodu, les, ) `of hard,
I
3 .
t t '
