'
930 Victor Road,Lodi, California
Exceltech Project No. 1628G ;I
i
Dear Mr. Woolsey:
Exceltech has completed the installation and sampling of one supplemental groundwater monitoring
well at the subject site facility in the City of Lodi, San Joagd{in County, California. In addition,
five of the existing groundwater monitoring wells on the site, were sampled. The purpose of this
supplemental investigation was to determine whether free-phase petroleum hydrocarbons persisted
on the groundwater surface adjacent to the transfer block (Figure 2). No groundwater data have
been collected in this area since January 1987 because, existing well MW-1 has been dry. The
installation of this additional well was requested by the Regional Water Quality Control Board,
Central Valley Region, in a letter to the San Joaquin County Public Health Services,Environmental
Health Division, dated September 29, 1989. During this phaseiof theinvestigation, Exceltech:
• Explored subsurface soil conditions adjacent to the aransfer block by drilling, sampling,
and logging one exploratory boring. E
• Constructed one 4-inch-diameter groundwater monitoring!well (MW-8)in the boring.
• Obtained soil samples from the boring and groundwater samples from existing wells
that were analyzed for the presence of petroleum hydrocarbon compounds.
• Presented the results of this investigation and findings in This summary report.
Exploratory Drilling
One exploratory boring was drilled south of and adjacent to well 1'IW-1 on April 13, 1990, to a
k depth of 61-1/2 feet. Exceltech subcontracted West Hazmat Drilling, from Rancho Cordova,
California, to conduct the drilling. The boring was drilled with a CME 55 truck-mounted drill rig
using 10-inch-outside-diameter by 6-5/8-inch-inside-diameter continuous-flight hollow-stem
;f
augers.
