The Workplan was submitted in response to our request for a.
Workplan to evaluate the methyl tert-butyl ether (MtBE) plume downgradient of MW -3. The Workplan
provides:
• the proposed location for new downgradient monitoring well MW -11,
• the groundwater analytical results of the October 2002 quarterly groundwater monitoring event,
and
• a Quality Control/Quality Assurance Plan, and
• a Site Safety Plan.
Comment
We concur with the Workplan as presented. Once installed, please add MW -11 to the quarterly
sampling, as required of new wells under Regional Board Monitoring and Reporting Program (MRP) .
No. R5-2002-0827. Note that the MRP requires sampling of well MW -11 for dissolved lead, in addition
to the methods listed in the Workplan: total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel and gasoline, benzene-
toluene-ethybenzene-xylenes, and -volatile organic compounds, including all fuel oxygenates. Please
continue to work with your laboratory to ensure that the required method detection limits are achieved.
By 1 February 2003, please submit a report describing the installation and sampling of MW -11.
I have accepted a new assignment with the Regional Board and will no longer be working on this
project.
