Specifically sample 2NSW/17 and sample TP 1/21. Sample 2NSW/17 contains .024 ppm of
Xylene. The screening level for Xylene is .005 ppm. Sample TP 1/21 contains 1000 ppm TPH-gas,
.2 ppm Toluene, .3 ppm Ethylbenzene and 14 ppm Xylene. The screening levels for these constituents
are TPH-gas 10 ppm; Toluene, Ethylbenzene and Xylene .005 ppm.
PHS/EHD recommends that the lateral and vertical extent of this contamination be determined and mass
balanced. The mass balance calculation should be included in a feasibility study to determine the most
economical method of mitigating the contamination present beneath the newly installed UST's.
PHS/EHD recommends that the risk assessment/feasibility study be submitted to this agency by
September 15, 1995.
For additional information please contact Steven Season at (209) 468-3459.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Steven Sasson, Senior REHS Diane M.
