AMBRIA
The existing well network indicates that the plume is localized The extent of fuel oxygenates in
groundwater is defined below 10 ppb in all directions except southeast of the site Cambria has
proposed wells east and southeast of MW-7 to complete lateral delineation Therefore, Cambria
proposes continued quarterly groundwater sampling at this site, to monitor the expected
continued degradation of fuel oxygenates in groundwater beneath the site and to confirm that the
plume is shrinking and not migrating
Vertical Groundwater Definition: In the August 17, 2004 letter, SJCEHD requests that Shell
submit a work plan to define the vertical extent of fuel oxygenates in groundwater Cambria
installed well MW-11, screened from 90 to 100 fbg on July 9, 2003, and low concentrations of
MTBE and TBA were initially detected However, TBA has not been detected in groundwater
from the well since the initial sampling event, and MTBE has also been below detection limits
for two quarters These groundwater analytical data demonstrate that the vertical extent of fuel
oxygenates in groundwater is defined above 90 fbg in groundwater by well MW-1
Lateral Groundwater Definition- In the August 17, 2004 letter, SJCEHD requests that Shell
install a well between existing wells MW-6 and MW-7 to further define the lateral extent of fuel
oxygenates in groundwater near the eastern edge of the site In our December 13, 2002 Response
Letter/Sate Investigation and Third Quarter 2002 Groundwater Monitoring Report/Work Plan,
Cambria proposed well MW-12, located between MW-6 and MW-7 on the Teresi Trucking
property The well is located approximately 50 feet northeast of well MW-7 If SJCEHD would
prefer, this proposed well location could be moved onsite and/or north of its current location to
provide further lateral assessment near the eastern edge of the site
RESPONSE LETTER
Adjacent Site Access. Cambria sent a copy of Shell's access agreement to the owners of the
Teresi Trucking property, located adjacent to the site in February 2003 This agreement was not
returned to us During May 2003, a representative of Teresi Trucking contacted Cambria by
telephone and explained that Shell would not be granted access to install the proposed wells on
this property Cambria will provide SJCEHD with a copy of this access agreement and contact
information for Teresi Trucking representatives under separate cover
Geotracker Data. Cambria will upload the Geo Z well survey data for wells MW-1, MW-2, and
MW-3 into the Geotracker database as requested
0955 9
