• a
C A M B R I A
Based on the extracted volume and sample analytical results, interim remediation removed
approximately 3 33 pounds of MTBE
Groundwater Monitoring Program• There are currently seven groundwater monitoring wells
located onsite (MW-1 through MW-7), which are sampled quarterly In addition, Cambria
installed three offsite wells (MW-8, MW-9, and MW-10) during July 2003, which have not yet
been sampled During the second quarter 2003 sampling event, MTBE was detected in wells
MW-1 through MW-5, MW-7, P-1, and P-2 at concentrations ranging from 18 to 280,000 ppb
TBA was detected in wells MW-1 through MW-4, MW-7, P-1, and P-2 at concentrations ranging
from 190 to 74,000 ppb No other fuel oxygenates were detected TPHg and BTEX were also
not detected, although some reporting limits were elevated
WORK TASKS
SVE Well Installation
Permits: Cambria will obtain appropriate permits for drilling from SJCEHD
• Site Safety Plan: Cambria will prepare a Site Safety Plan for field work
Utility Clearance Cambria will mark proposed drilling locations and the locations will be
cleared through Underground Service Alert prior to drilling
Site Investigation: Three exploratory soil borings (SVE-1, SVE-2, and SVE-3) are proposed at
the locations shown on Figure 2 The exploratory borings will be drilled using hollow-stem
auger equipment and will be converted to SVE wells All the SVE wells will be located around
the USTs The proposed SVE well locations are intended to target the areas where previous soil
sampling data identified the most highly impacted soils
A Cambria geologist will supervise the drilling and describe encountered soils using the Unified
Soil Classification System and Munsell Soil Color Charts Soil samples from the borings will be
collected at five-foot intervals for soil description, possible chemical analyses, and organic vapor
screening with a photo-ionization detector(PID) Cambria will prepare an exploratory boring log
for each well, and PID measurements will be recorded on the boring logs
Soil samples designated for chemmcal analyses will be retained in stainless steel or brass sample
• tubes The tubes will be covered on both ends with Teflon sheets and plastic end caps Soil
0955 4
