r
C A M B R I A
Proposed Scope of Work
To address migration of dissolved gasoline constituents (primarily methyl tertiary butyl ether
[MTBE]) in groundwater, Cambria proposes to start with a 5-day aquifer pump test This pump
test would use extraction/monitoring well MW-4, proposed in Cambria's June 5, 2002 Site
Investigation Work Plan Cambria also proposes installing two piezometers, which will be used
as observation points during the pump test The extended aquifer pump test will assist in interim
remediation of groundwater beneath the site, determine the hydraulic properties of the aquifer,
and determine if additional remediation is warranted
Cambria's proposed scope of work includes the tasks described below
Work Tasks
Permit: Cambria will obtain an appropriate permit for drilling from SJCEHD
Site Safety Plan: Cambria will prepare a Site Safety Plan for field work
Utility Clearance. Cambria will mark proposed drilling locations and the locations will be
cleared through Underground Service Alert prior to drilling
Piezometer Installation• Cambria proposes installing two piezometers (P-1 and P-2) during the
next site investigation phase to serve as observation points during the aquifer pump test
Piezometer P-1 will be located eight feet north of proposed extraction/monitoring well MW-4,
and piezometer P-2 will be located 16 feet southeast of well MW-4 (Figure 2)
A Cambria geologist will supervise the drilling and describe encountered soil using the Unified
Soil Classification System and Munsell Soil Color Charts Soil samples will be collected at five-
foot intervals for description, possible chemical analyses, and organic vapor screening with a
photo-ionization detector (PID) PID readings will be recording on the boring log for each
piezometer
Soil samples designated for chemical analyses will be retained in stainless steel or brass tubes
The tubes will be covered on both ends with Teflon sheets and plastic end caps Soil samples
will be labeled, entered onto a chain-of-custody record, and placed into a cooler with ice for
0955 2
