CAMBRIA <br /> A Cambria geologist will supervise the drilling and describe encountered soils using the Unified <br /> Soil Classification System and Munsell Soil Color Charts Soil samples will be collected at <br /> five-foot intervals for lrthologtc description and possible chemical analysis Soil samples will <br /> be screened in the field at 5-foot intervals for organic vapors with a PID PID readings will <br /> be recorded on the boring log for each boring and well <br /> Soil samples will be retained in sample tubes and will be covered on both ends with Teflon <br /> sheets and plastic end caps Soil samples will be labeled, entered onto a chain-of-custody <br /> record and placed into a cooler with ice for transport to a State of California certified <br /> laboratory for analysts <br /> Monitoring Well Installation The proposed well borings will be drilled in the manner <br /> described above and converted to groundwater monitoring wells The wells will be constructed <br /> of 4-inch diameter threaded Schedule 40 PVC well casing Approximately 15 feet of screen <br /> will be placed in the wells, with the screen placed at least 10 feet below and 5 feet above the <br /> top of the groundwater table The sandpack will be placed 1 to 2 feet above the top of the <br /> well screen followed by a 1-foot thick bentonite seal A cement-grout seal will be placed <br /> . above the bentonite seal to grade The well will be secured with a locking cap under a traffic- <br /> rated well box A well completion report will be prepared for each groundwater monitoring <br /> well <br /> Groundwater Sampling If groundwater is encountered to any of the GeoProbe® borings, <br /> groundwater samples will be collected at 10-foot intervals using GeoProbe® groundwater <br /> sampling equipment Groundwater samples will be contained to approved sample containers, <br /> labeled, entered onto a chain-of-custody record and placed into a cooler with ice for transport <br /> to a State of California certified laboratory for analysis <br /> A Shell-approved sampling contractor will develop and sample the groundwater monitoring <br /> wells The samples will be submitted to a state-certified laboratory for analysts <br /> Chemical Analyses Groundwater samples and selected soil samples will be analyzed for <br /> TPHg by EPA Method 8015 (modified), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX) <br /> and MTBE by EPA Method 8020, and fuel oxygenates (TAME, ETBE, TBA, DIPS, and <br /> MTBE) by EPA Method 8260 <br /> Report Preparation Following the receipt of analytical results from the laboratory, Cambria <br /> . will prepare a written report which will include field procedures, laboratory results, boring <br /> logs, and conclusions <br /> 241-0955 4 <br />
