CAMBRIA
Health and Safety Plan Cambria prepared a stte-specific safety plan for the SVE test activities
SOIL VAPOR EXTRACTION TEST DATA
Details of the SVE pilot test are presented below The radius of influence data is summarized in
Table 3 and the vapor extraction mass removal data is summarized in Table 4 The laboratory
analytical reports are included in Appendix C, and the field data sheets are included as
Appendix D
October 7, 2003 On October 7, Cambria conducted short-term step tests on wells SVE-1,
SVE-2, and SVE-3, and initiated a long-term SVE test on well SVE-1 Applied vacuum readings
and extraction flow rates were measured, and vapor samples were collected, at the wellhead The
step tests involved adjusting the liquid ring pump on the Solleco unit to produce a minimum of
three different vacuum levels The vacuum setting that yielded the highest vapor flow rate from
the extraction well was then used as the target vacuum level for the duration of a longer SVE test
on that well
• A vapor extraction step test on SVE-1 began at 10 42 on October 7 A maximum wellhead
vacuum of 1 1 inches mercury-gauge (Hg} was achieved from a liquid-ring pump-generated
vacuum of 19 5 inches Hg A vapor sample collected from SVE-1 at 11 10 did not contain
detectable quantities of TPHg, benzene, or MTBE at detection limits of 10, 0 31 and 0 14 parts
per million by volume (ppmv), respectively
A vapor extraction step test on SVE-2 began at approximately 11 15 on October 7 An initial
wellhead vacuum of 0 4 inches Hg resulted from a liquid-ring pump-generated vacuum of
5 inches Hg The maximum wellhead vacuum achieved was 0 9 inches Hg A vapor sample
collected from SVE-2 at 11 55 contained <10 ppmv TPHg, <0 31 ppmv benzene, and 0 42 ppmv
MTBE
A vapor extraction step test on SVE-3 began at approximately 12 00 on October 7 An initial
wellhead vacuum of 0 4 inches Hg resulted from a liquid-ring pump-generated vacuum of
5 inches Hg The maximum wellhead vacuum achieved was 1 1 inches Hg A vapor sample
collected from SVE-3 at 12 20 contained <10 ppmv TPHg, <0 31 ppmv benzene, and 0 19 ppmv
MTBE, although this sample was extracted out of holding time
A vapor extraction test on SVE-1 began at approximately 12 20 on October 7 A vapor sample
. collected from SVE-1 at 15 30 contained ll ppmv TPHg, <0 31 ppmv benzene, and 6 2 ppmv
0955 7
