Any person who generates a waste shall determine if the waste is a hazardous <br /> waste. Immediately stop allowing metal fines to accumulate in the work area of the service shop, make a hazardous <br /> waste determination for the metal fines, and manage it according to Title 22 hazardous waste regulations. Particles <br /> 100 microns or smaller must be handled as hazardous waste if the metal is determined to be a hazardous waste. <br /> Submit a statement and supporting documentation explaining how this waste was managed. <br /> Two 55 gallon drums were found outside south of the service shop. These drums were partially full of an unknown <br /> liquid with an unknown smell. Facility has not determined if these liquids are a hazardous waste. Any person who <br /> generates a waste shall determine if the waste is a hazardous waste. Immediately make a hazardous waste <br /> determination for the two 55 gallon drums of unknown liquid, and manage it according to Title 22 hazardous waste <br /> regulations. <br /> An eight ounce bottle of combustible Evinrude Johnson genuine fuel stabilizer fluid with approximately one ounce of <br /> liquid inside was found in the facility dumpster. This dumpster also contained several saturated and contaminated <br /> absorbent pads. Facility has not determined if these wastes are a hazardous waste. Any person who generates a <br /> waste shall determine if the waste is a hazardous waste. Immediately make a hazardous waste determination for the <br /> eight ounce bottle of combustible Evinrude Johnson genuine fuel stabilizer fluid with approximately one ounce of liquid <br /> and the saturated and contaminated absorbent pads, and manage it according to Title 22 hazardous waste <br /> regulations. <br /> This is a Class II violation. <br /> 105 CCR 66262.34(d)(2) Failed to train employees on waste handling and emergency procedures. <br /> At the time of inspection, it could not be demonstrated that employees who handle hazardous waste were properly <br /> trained. Documentation of employee training is maintained at this facility. Training documentation did not indicate that <br /> employees had been trained on hazardous waste management or response. Rhonda Alaria confirmed that hazardous <br /> waste management or response training needs to be scheduled for the current employees. It was mentioned to <br /> Rhonda Alaria that an eight ounce bottle of combustible Evinrude Johnson genuine fuel stabilizer fluid with <br /> approximately one ounce of liquid inside was found in the facility dumpster. This dumpster also contained several <br /> saturated and contaminated absorbent pads. The generator must ensure that all employees who handle hazardous <br /> waste are thoroughly familiar with proper waste handling and emergency procedures.
