The project involved removal and disposal of two tanks,removal of contaminated soil,treatment'of <br /> contaminated groundwater,replacement of soil, and installation of monitoring wells. Pursuant to our <br /> discussions,this letter will-summarize the.meeting,review,subsequent.activitids;and request a conditional <br /> "No Further Action"letter,from your,agcncy."4! <br /> { <br /> Duringthe meeting,the remaining project requirements were outlined as follows <br /> 1. A project contact for Heinz U.S.A. is required following the closure of the plant offices at Tracy. <br /> 2. Additional soil removal and testing'would be required from the No.-1 (West)tank excavation. It <br /> was agreed that no further soil removal from either.excavation would.be required beyond that <br /> event. <br /> 3. Oxygen releasing compounds would be placed in.both excavations and the holes filled. <br /> 4. One monitoring well had already been installed near the downgradient end of each plume,and <br /> each would be developed and tested. "Results of inifial tests will confirm"that"wells have"been <br /> properly placed,or that an alternate location is needed. <br /> 5. A second round of well tests will be conducted about June 1,with quarterly testing to follow for <br /> two additional cycles(September 1-and December 1). . <br /> 6. If the initial tests show satisfactory well placement,Heinz U.S.A.will request a"No Further <br /> Action"letter from the Environmental Health Division,contingent upon completing additional <br /> monitoring. <br /> .7. ,The quarterly monitoring,is designed.to show that no local wells or other receptors are <br /> endangered. If readings are constani ar decrease,rnoi itbring cari be terminated.
