SECTION 3 <br /> SUMMARY OF PROPOSED EXCAVATION <br /> ACTIVITIES <br /> i <br /> This section presents the procedures that will be implemented for removal <br /> and disposal of the underground storage tanks as well as for removal and <br /> disposal of impacted soil and groundwater in the vicinity of each tank <br /> Startup Activities <br /> Startup activities include obtaining permits, establishment of work zones, <br /> implementing health & safety procedures, performance of a utility survey <br /> and mobilization of excavation equipment to the site <br /> Permit and Notification Requirements <br /> San Joaquin County (SJC) is the lead regulatory agency for this excavation <br /> activity Additional perrruts will also be obtained from the City of Tracy <br /> Building Department and the City of Tracy Fire Department (CTFD) A <br /> site specific Health and Safety Plan will be prepared by the contractor and <br /> submitted to SJC prior to performing the excavation activities <br /> Tank contents will be removed and disposed of under the supervision of <br /> SJC SJC and CTFD representatives will also be on site during the removal <br /> and disposal of each UST Upon completion of all construction activities, <br /> ERM will prepare and submit a UST closure report to SJC in accordance <br /> with their requirements <br /> Establishment of Work Zones <br /> Prior to initiation of excavation activities, a work zone consisting of an <br /> exclusion zone and a contamination reduction zone will be established <br /> around each of the USTs Access to the work zone will be limited to those <br /> personnel who have received the proper training and have read and are <br /> familiar with the site specific Health and Safety Plan <br /> 3-1 <br />
