Health and Safe!y Procedures <br /> Implementation of the Health and Safety procedures include establishing <br /> work zones, personnel and equipment decontamination areas and <br /> ensuring that all on-site personnel have received proper training in <br /> accordance with 29 CFR 1910 and 29 CFR 1926 Specific procedures, <br /> methods, engineering controls, and personnel protective equipment will <br /> be required for all on-site personnel throughout construction activities <br /> UtiIity Survey <br /> Due to the lack of availability of utility as-built drawings for the facility, <br /> the contractor will perform a utility survey using a subsurface utility <br /> locating firm Excavation activities shall not commence until the utility <br /> survey has been completed <br /> Excavation Equipment Mobilization <br /> To perform the UST and soil excavation, a small track mounted excavator <br /> will be transported to the site via 18-wheel, long-bed trailer Ten wheeler <br /> type transport vehicles will also be utilized to remove and haul impacted <br /> soil to a certified disposal facility <br /> UST, Soil and Ground Water Excavation Activities <br /> General controls that will be implemented during excavation include the <br /> placement of caution tape and barricades along the excavation perimeters <br /> to ensure the safety of on-site personnel and visitors <br /> UST Removal and Disposal <br /> Upon completion of the utility survey, the contractor will sawcut and <br /> remove surface pavements at each UST site as required to remove the <br /> tanks The 8 inch thick concrete transformer pad located on the southeast <br /> corner of the warehouse will also be removed The contractor will <br /> excavate soils above the tanks as required to expose the tops of each tank <br /> and cut open the tank tops to expose and facilitate removal of tank <br /> contents Under the supervision of SJC, the contractor will remove and <br /> dispose of tank contents and triple rinse each tank to remove any residual <br /> sand, fuel, and vapors Soils adjacent to the tank walls will then be <br /> excavated to facilitate tank removal <br /> 3-2 <br />
