Upon completion of the excavation activities, ERM will prepare and <br /> submit to SJC, UST closure reports which summarize soil and ground <br /> water sample results in accordance with SJC requirements <br /> Sampling Protocol <br /> Confirmation samples will be collected in brass tubes Each brass tube <br /> will be sealed with Teflon tape and end caps A label will be affixed to the <br /> brass tube, and the tube will be placed into a Ziploc plastic bag The <br /> information to be included on the label is described in the Sample <br /> Designation and Custody discussion <br /> The field technician will decontaminate nondisposable sampling <br /> equipment before use and between each sampling The following field <br /> cleaning procedures will be followed <br /> • Either steam clean or wash with Alcanox detergent (or a nonphosphate <br /> detergent for phosphate analysis), <br /> 0 ® Rinse with tap water, and <br /> • Rinse three tunes with deionized/distilled water <br /> The samples will immediately be put on ice inside a cooler Field <br /> documentation will consist of field activity logs and Chain-of-Custody <br /> and Sample Identification Record forms All entries onto the various <br /> forms will be in water-resistant ink <br /> Sample Designation and Customs <br /> Proper sample container usage, sample labeling, and sample <br /> documentation is required to ensure proper collection, storage, and <br /> transfer of representative samples To this end, analytical laboratories will <br /> not accept samples without a correctly prepared Chain of Custody and <br /> Sample Identification Record form A soil sample is considered "in <br /> custody" if <br /> • It is in the sampler's or the transferee's actual possession, <br /> • It is in the sampler's or the transferee's view, after being in his/her <br /> physical possession, <br /> 4-3 <br />
