1.0 INTRODUCTION <br />' Ramage Environmental was retained by Wright Environmental Services, Inc (Wright) to prepare <br /> this Groundwater Monitoring Report, First Quarter 2003 for submittal to the San Joaquin County <br />' Environmental Health Division (EHD) and the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control <br /> Board (RWQCB) <br />' 1.1 Site Location and Description <br />' The former Stefano's Gas Station site is located at 1419 East Charter Way in the city of Stockton <br /> (San Joaquin County), California (Figure 1) The site is flat, mostly unpaved and occupies the <br />' northeast corner of East Charter Way and Sierra Nevada Street (Figure 2) The property is <br /> vacant undeveloped land, bordered to the north by a motel and to the east by a liquor store The <br /> San Joaquin County Fairgrounds are across Charter Way to the south of the site (Figure 3) Two, <br />' 10,000-gallon capacity, underground gasoline storage tanks (UST) and an above-tank dispenser <br /> island existed in the central part of the site <br />' 12 Previous Work <br /> 1 2 1 UST System Removal and One Sod Boring <br /> On October 27, 1992, the two USTs and dispenser island were removed from the site by Falcon <br />' Energy Associates (FEA) Three soil samples were collected from beneath each of the USTs and <br /> analyzed for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH)-as-gasoline, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene <br /> and xylenes (BTEX), ethylene dibromide (EDB) and total lead The laboratory results indicated <br /> that TPN-as-gasoline was detected at concentrations ranging from 1,300 to 4,400 milligrams per <br />' kilogram (mg/kg) <br /> On August 17, 1994, FEA drilled one soil boring (designated B-1), near the center of the former <br />' UST excavation (Figure 2), to a total depth of 60 feet below ground surface (bgs) Soil samples <br /> collected at 30 and 40 feet bgs contained detectable concentrations of TPH-as-gasoline, toluene, <br /> ethylbenzene and xylenes Soil samples collected at 55 and 60 feet bgs only contained trace <br /> concentrations of xylenes of up to 0 018 mg/kg A groundwater-grab sample collected from B-1 <br /> contained 76,000 micrograms per liter(µg/l) of TPH-as-gasoline, 38 µg/l of benzene, 310 gg/l of <br />' toluene, 4 8 of gg/l ethylbenzene and 6,800 pgll of xylenes <br /> 3 <br />
