Weber Ave., Third Floor
Stockton, CA 95202
Subject: Letter Addendum—Workplan for the Installation of ISCO Injection Point
Valley Pacific Petroleum Services, Inc. (Woolsey Oil, Inc.) Cardlock Facility
1501 W. Charter Way, Stockton, CA(Site Code 508175)
Dear Mr. Infurna:
This letter addendum to the September 14, 2007 workplan for the Installation of ISCO Injection
Point has been written in response to phone conversations and email correspondence with Mr.
Infurna of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health department (EHD). The location of the
Site is shown in Figure 1.
The September 2007 workplan proposed the installation of an oxidant injection point near the location
of monitoring well MW3 (Figure 2). During a phone conversation with Mr. Infurna it was
recommended that a bench scale test (BST) of the proposed oxidant be completed with favorable
results prior to the installation of an injection point. Ground Zero Analysis, Inc. (GZA) agreed with
EHD's recommendation. The Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) indicated that
contaminated soil collected from the treatment area be used in the BST. In order to collect a
representative soil sample from the treatment area GZA proposes advancing one soil boring in the
location. shown on Figure 2. Figure 3 shows the boring in relationship to existing USTs and
associated piping.
Drilling will be conducted by a C-57 licensed drilling contractor using 8" diameter hollow stem
augers under the supervision of an experienced geologist working for GZA. The boring will be
free-drilled to approximately 20 feet below grade surface (bgs) and then continuously sampled to
a total depth of 35 feet bgs. Laboratory analysis of soil samples collected during the installation
of MW3 indicated the highest levels of contamination were between 25 and 30 feet bgs. Soil
analytical data is summarized in Table 1 of the September 2007 Workplan.
The soil will be continuously cored in 18-inch intervals from 20 to 35 feet bgs, filling 6-inch brass
tubes in a modified split-spoon sampler. The geologist will inspect the upper most tube in each
interval and submit the center brass tube from each interval having the highest PID readings for
G:\GROUNDZE\WOOLSEY.CHT\Reports\Workplan\WP Addendum 080Ldoc
